What is Emotional Intelligence?

According to the Psychology Today is website emotional intelligence is "the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others". This includes skill such as self-awareness, the ability to manage and utilise one's own emotions, self-regulation, also helping others to regulate their emotions.

How is EQ different to IQ?

EQ is a related to emotional intelligence, where as IQ is a measure of intellect. IQ measures things like visual processing, memory and reasoning skills, while EQ looks at social skills, and ability to identify emotions.

Why is EQ important?

EQ is important as the more we are aware of and able to manage our emotions and recognise and support others in theirs, the more we can develop good relationships, preform better, be better leaders and live happier lives.
